Quentin Tarantino Enjoys a Late Night Dive Bar.

Quentin Tarantino Enjoys a Late Night Dive Bar.

The Saint bar and lounge in the lower garden district has been serving patrons fresh colds ones for years now.  It's usually a late night spot that doesn't get too crowded until around 2 am on the weekends.  I had heard from some of my friends that Mr. Tarantino liked to frequent The Saint on the weekends but I never thought twice about it.  I thought why would he go to a place like that? A big shot movie director? No, he's more suited for a place like the Roosevelt or The Columns.  Well, last night, through the smoke, the music, the drinks, and the girls, my friends words had come true.  There he was, this big shot movie director sitting on a chair enjoying a frozen margarita trying not to be overcome by people who recognized him.  After thinking it over, I came to the realization of why he chooses to go there.  It's like his movies, its chaotic, noisy, filled with action, and like most of his movies, when you go there you never quite know how its going to end.  I have heard that inspiration comes from the least likely of places, but a dive bar, in the lower garden district, seems to be the place for Quentin.
As you know, the film industry is booming in New Orleans.  New television shows, and new films are being shot everyday around town.  Its a wonderful business for New Orleans to get into, there truly is no place on Earth like it, and I think that is the major appeal to these film companies.  Their presence here has a significant impact on our fair city.  It gives locals jobs in roles as grips, technicians, and extras.  Furthermore, the amount of money that the actors and directors spend at our local businesses, like Quentin at the Saint, increases our economy ever more so.  With all this money pouring into town, I hope our elected folks in city hall will find beneficial programs to invest in.  Perhaps the failing school system? Perhaps an increased number in public transit, or a more efficient public transit system?  Time will tell where all this extra income will go to, but in the meantime, we need to figure ways to stand on our own and not rely on the film industry or the tourist industry.

A Project that will change New Orleans and bring it into the 21st century:

And in case your wondering, Mr. Tarantino is directing a film called "Django Unchained"
It's starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Don Johnson.  It looks great, it'll be interesting to see Leonardo DiCaprio as a bad guy.
Remember to make a difference everyday.
